About one third of our cadets are involved in the Squadron Band. You do not have to be a musician already to join, as training will be provided. The Band is an optional activity for cadets, but there are so many opportunities each year to get out into the community and perform, and whereve the 80 (Bolton) Squadron band goes, there is always a large crowd of the public keen to watch and listen to the performance.

Most recent performance: Bromley Cross Summer Fayre - 11 May 2013

Joining the Band

Players of any standard are welcome to join the Brass Section of the Band. The Band marches at the head of the section in parades, playing a vital role of keeping the rest of the Squadron in time while marching. The Brass section currently comprises cornets and trumpets, and it plays a variety of tunes, including "The Great Escape", "Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Star Wars".

At 80 Squadron, cadets have the chance to play the tenor, bass or snare drums.

The drums are an important part of public parades, in front of hundreds or even thousands of people!

Drumming cadets can also receive an achievement badge.

In the Band, one can achieve the Trumpeter's or Drummer's Badge. The Band also leads parades and takes part in ceremonies, like playing the Last Post. Joining the Band is good, because it provides experience and shows off the talent in the Squadron.
